Charlie Flynn
Charlie Flynn was born in Jersey City New Jersey on February 2, 1957. He grew up and lived there for a if his adult life. For 10 years Charlie was employed by Colgate Palmolive in Jersey City He is currently working for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, the Garden State Parkway Division He is also working as a bus driver for student Transportation Bus Company in Lakewood, NJ.
For over 20 years Charlie was involved in various community activities and organizations in Jersey City He was a member of the Jersey City St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, where he helped organize the parade each year. He coached little league baseball and basketball at Our Lady of Mercy He also volunteered to dress up as Santa Clause for children in hospitals.
In 1994. Charlie got married and moved to wall Toenship his wife Denise
and 2 step-daughters Kimberly and Nicole He is still currently living in Wall with
Denise and Nicole and recently became a grandfather when Kimberly and her husband
Andrew welcomed their son Logan Thomas Zimmer to the world on December 1, 200
Since Charlie has moved to the Jersey Shore, he has become involved in many
local activities. clubs and organizations. Charlie is currently on the Credit Union Board
for the New Jersey Parkway and Turnpike; and has recently been elected as delegate and
shop steward for Local 196 on the Garden State Parkway. He was on the Irish Festival
Committee at Blue Claws Stadium in Lakewood has been a member of the Irish
organization The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh in Belmar since 1994.
Charlie has been most dedicated in his involvement with the Belmar St. Patrick's
Day parade, He has been on in Parade committee from 1994 to the present. He has
spent over 15 years organizing assisiting and facilitating the parades each year. He has
taken personal time out to attend fundraisers and hang up fliers to recruit members of the
community to support the parade. Charlie has made it a point to involve his friends and
family in his love and dedication: for the St. Patrick's Day parade. For example, 10 years
ago he organized a wonderful breakfast for the workers and members of the Parade
Committee, at his friends restaurant Federico's on Main St. in Belmar.
After all of his dedication and involvement over the years, Charlie has finally
been granted the highest honor of being the Grand Marshal of the 2010 Belmar St.
Patrick's Day Parade. This year will be no different then any of the other years that
have passed. Charlie will undoubtedly give 100% to make sure that every meeting,
fundraiser and especially the parade itself will be nothing short of a great success.

Janet McGrath
Janet Byron McGrath was born on May 3rd 1938, and raised in the Vailsburg
section of Newark, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Captain Vincent F. Byron of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the late Mildred Waterbury Byron. She was educated at Sacred Heart School, St. Vincent's Academy and Westside High School, all in Newark.
Janet can trace her Irish heritage back to County Roscommon Ireland, where
her paternal grandfather, John A. Byron, and paternal grandmother Margaret Ellen McGlynn, were born and raised. Upon coming to America, her grandfather became a Newark fireman, eventually becoming fire chief, a position he held for many year until his death.
On Janet's maternal side, her grandfather's mother was born in County Cavan,
Ireland, before emigrating to America , where she married a Newark, New Jersey native. Janet's grandfather was a Newark policeman for many years until he retired. Because of her close association to Ireland. and all things Irish, she continued following the traditions that she grew up with, and loves.
In 1966, while still living in Vailsburg Janet met and married William "Bumpsy" McGrath, whose father was also a Newark fireman. Both he and and his wife, Elizabeth McGill, were first generation Irish Americans from County Wicklow.
Janet's husband was a member of the "Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local #10"
a position he held until his death. They left Newark in 1970, and moved to Monmouth County with their son, Patrick. Three years later their son, Michael was born. They lived in Millstone Township after her husband's death in 1991. She moved to Belmar in 1994, where she now resides.
Janet is a member of the Jerry Lynch Assoc. the John Cryan Assoc. allow., the
Ackerman Assoc. of Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and is a founding member of be Women of Irish Heritage-Jersey Shore, where she has held and continues to hold elected offices. She was also a commissioner with the Belmar Housing Authority ,before choosing to leave this position. Janet worked as a waitress for ''Who's on Third" in Spring Lake for eighteen years. She recently chose to retire, but misses seeing
everyone she came to know, and all the good friends she made over this long span of time. Janet is a member of St. Rose Parish in Belmar.
